Letter from the Recruitment Chair

Letter from the Recruitment Chair

Dear Potential New Members,

My name is Mary Everett and I serve as Sigma Sigma Sigma-Theta Beta’s 2016 Recruitment Director. I’m very excited that you have decided to jump into Greek Life during your time at the University of Michigan-Flint!
I went through formal recruitment in Fall of 2014 and found my home in Tri Sigma. Ever since, Greek life has changed my life in ways that I could never have imagined. I found some of my best friends in college in not only my own organization, but other Greek organizations as well.

Tri Sigma has given me so many opportunities to grow my leadership skills by sending me to countless leadership conferences such as UIFI, IMPACT, Dunham Institute, etc. I have also been able to participate in many community service and philanthropic opportunities with greek life as a whole. Last Greek week we raised over 1,000 dollars in support of the Children’s Miracle Network by doing a car bash and penny war. My organization pushes us to participate in the Greek Day of Service every year where several Greeks go out into the community and help better Flint.
Every November, Tri Sigma Theta Beta holds a Sigma Sale on campus and last year we raised over 1,000 dollars in support of our philanthropy, the Robbie Page Memorial which funds play therapy in hospitals for children with terminal diseases.Recently, at our convention in June 2016, we adopted a new philanthropy alongside of the Robbie Page Memorial, the March of Dimes. We are very excited to see how we can expand our philanthropic fundraising onto March of Dimes as well.

If you are looking for a home away from home, a group of girls you can be yourself around, and a group that will always support you in whatever direction life takes you, Sigma Sigma Sigma Theta Beta is a home you should definitely look into. My life has gotten so much more exciting since I joined and I would not take back my decision any day.

I look forward to spending a week with you in just a few months!

Mary Everett
